Honda Africa Twin 2016
Well, after only a year or so with the KLR I updated to the 2016 Africa Twin. The first in Tasmania.
Certainly more electronics but not overkill like a lot of the bigger adventure bikes. Three stage traction control fully selectable while on the move, sensible suspension adjustment settings
and selectable ABS for dirt and road riding. Lots of pictures to come once I get out there!!
Kawasaki KLR650 ’09
This is one of the least technologically advanced bikes I have owned and that is its strength. Built since 1987 by Kawasaki and continually refined, carburettor only, no fancy computers or
ABS and will go anywhere! This 2009 Kawasaki is great on the road and equally at home on dirt tracks – which there are plenty of in Australia! I have always had road bikes
and been pretty precious about them, but with this I can now explore all those out-of-the-way places and hidden gems buried deep in National Parks and at the end of dirt tracks miles from anywhere.
I look forward to doing all the servicing and maintenance myself and hopefully it will take me on that run from Melbourne to John O’ Groats on the tip of Scotland one day – or vice versa!
In the mean time, it is off road Australia and pictures will be placed here from time to time.
