About

Thanks for stopping by. My name is Mark Higgins from Melbourne, Australia.
I look for design in everyday situations. Industrial grunge, typography, quirky landscapes, but I also photograph colour, form and anything aesthetic to me at the moment. I completed a Diploma of Graphic Design and have continually worked in design, using my photography for personal projects. I prefer to shoot what I find and rarely set up shots, quick street photography with a graphic element and a minimum of people – although i do return to fertile ground once in a while trying to improve previous pictures – but rarely succeed.

I think of my photography as an extension of my graphic design, in that I am always looking for juxtaposition of elements and colour and continually find patterns or repetitive elements that i need to photograph. I like to be surprised and always carry a camera looking for the perfect shot…… The plan for the future is to take more street shots, yes, with more people in them! and more landscape shots taking advantage of even better equipment now available.

Use the contact page to email requests for quotes on digital images for advertising or other purposes or to request a print. Limited edition prints are now available from this site, or go to my other site Redbubble to buy non-limited edition cards, posters, prints, framed prints or posters, professionally produced.

I am available for photography projects mostly, but also video and graphic design projects and I produce brochures, flyers and design work on a daily basis – liaising with printers and suppliers to produce a first rate project. Use the contact page in the first instance, or ring the phone number on the business card above.

I now use Nikon D800 cameras and Nikon lenses capable of huge, sharp files that really allow for very large size prints. From April 2012 I look forward to producing even larger prints once my stock of images from this platform increases.
I am an expert in all Adobe software up to and including Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 on a Mac platform and in-house photographic printing. Limited edition book “snippets” available now.
